Rampart Range Road is
a very easy drive that parallels I-25 between Castle Rock and Colorado
Springs. The section described here is the North section, the South section continues on from Woodland Park
to Colorado Springs. This is a good beginner trail with lots of good
views. The main attraction of the area is the extensive network of OHV
(dirt bikes and 4wheelers) trails that run along it.
RRR is a very
easy drive. That being said, it is a great trail for a newbie, or maybe
a good place to take some out of town relatives for some authentic four
wheeling. The trail starts from highway 67 which runs between Sedalia
and Deckers. It runs south all the way to Woodland Park. The road
itself is smooth and wide with the the occasional bump. However, there
are lots of side trails that offer some challenge. Watch out though,
most maps are not up to date so don’t get lost.
The main
attraction is the large network of dirt bike and 4wheeler trails and
follow the road. The means lots of traffic and noise...
Take highway 85 to Sedalia. Go east on highway 67. The turnoff is on
the left and is well marked.
