Summary

Easy trail An easy trail that starts in Garden of the Gods. Fantastic views from above of the Garden of the Gods park and also of Pike's Peak.

Trail Report

This is a nice easy trail for a newbie. The portion north of Garden of the Gods park near Rampart Range Reservoir is almost paved. The trip from GoG park up to the Reservoir is a little rockier but still very easily passable by cars.

In March 2000 it was easily passable with a little bit of snow. There are several spots along the way up where you can see absolutley gorgeous views of Pike's Peak. Make sure to take advantage of them and snap a few pictures. Mine will make it up here once they are developed.

How to Get There

Rampart Range Road South runs from Garden of the Gods near Colorado Springs up to Woodland Park. Take I-25 south to exit 146 and follow the signs for Garden of the Gods park. Once inside the park, follow the signs for "Balanced Rock". Just north of the parking lot for Balanced Rock is a dirt road marked Rampart Range Road. If you pass Balanced Rock, just go around the loop again until you see the dirt road just before Balanced Rock.

The trail can also be driven the other direction starting in Woodland Park continuing down from the north portion of the trail.
