Summary

Where to find 21 Road It is quite possible that 21 Road is the toughest trail in Colorado.  If not, then it certainly one of the most popular right now.  Stock rigs and those with a faint heart should go look for something else.   But if you have a short wheelbase monster with lockers, big tires, and even bigger... well, lights, then you should try 21 Road.  Just remember, you were warned!

Trail Report

Picture from Four Wheeler (August 1998)A COSports Team hasn't tackled 21 Road (yet) but there are a few articles out there that can give you an idea of what you are in for.  Check out the 8-98 issue of Four Wheeler or the 11-97 issue of JP. With obstacles named "Carnage Corner" and "The Whacker" it just has to be fun. Hopefully a faithful COSports fan will send us a report soon!

Picture from JP Magazine (November 1997)How to Get There

Take Exit 26 off of I-70 (near Grand Junction) and go west on Highways 6 & 50 towards Fruita.  Look for 21 Road on your right (near the intersection of the two highways).  The 21 refers to the number of miles from the Utah border.  21 Road will get progressively worse as you work your way into the canyon.  You can either follow it all the way through the tough stuff and follow the gas service road (which empties onto 16 Road which in turn dumps you back onto 6 &50 5 miles to the east) or turn around and do it in reverse.
