| Trail Report |
| Within the first few turns of the crank you know that this is Mountain Bike heaven. You're greeted by aspen and pine forest and a slowly ascending uphill. The elevation nearly goes unnoticed as you navigate over minor obstacles of roots and rocks on a clean single track trail. The surroundings change several times as you go from forest to meadows. The first 6 miles consists of several rolling hills. The riding here is easy to moderate with several bridges to cross. A gate marks the 5.5 mile point. Shortly after the gate, at mile 6 you will arrive at a dirt road that leads to Jefferson Lake. This marks the begining of the moderate portion of this trail. From here the trail climbs steadily for approximately another 6 miles to the continental divide. There are several technical sections to deal with. This segment of trail ends above treeline at Geogia Pass (a dirt road) at 11,900 ft. Return your ascent route and enjoy the downhill, it's a real hoot. An Autumn ride will yeild spectacular fall colors. |
