Whether you're climbing a 14ner, 4-wheeling, backpacking or just escaping to the outdoors, you need a map. Many people carry GPS units. A GPS is a great tool, but without a map, you may still get lost! GPS units vary greatly and depending on the type that you have, it may not serve maps with the resolution and area needed to safely navigate out of the back country. One nice thing about maps; The batteries never die! A GPS unit, compass, and a Topo map create a complete tool set for direction finding.
